Life as usual
This week I have worked on job-hunting and met up with a lot of different people. Have attended a few networking occasions.
The highlight of the week was going to the roller-skate disco with Joseph. Funny place; a bar, a sitting area and a dance-floor. Everyone in the room had roller-skates on! People on the dance-floor rolled around and around and danced as they were rolling. A good and healthy mix of people there: Some ladies who looked like they had not left the place since the 1980s, highschool kids, the type of old black men you usually see in the streets talking to themselves, people like me and Joseph and some full on Brooklyn gangsters with black stockings on their heads, rolling around to Euro-techno type disco music. It truely was a happy place!
Yesterday I was at a bar near Wall Street, ment to met up with a group of "young professional Swedes" from The Swedish Chamber of Commerce. I was early, no other Swedes there so I ended up talking all night to an All-American Investment Banker. All-American. You know the type with whom you have to cut in quickly and firmly in order to get a say. I had a good time and we covered a wide range of topics. I got to practice to sound smart and to explaining my view on complicated issues (which has not happened since before the Norway-era of my life). I guess I got a pretty needed bost of confidence at the end of the night as I did pretty well and had pulled in a tree-dagram, the Rhen-Meidner model, some findings of Professor Hofstede plus some ohter stuff that appeared to have convinced him.
Have fun you guys!
